About Romney
Romney, a third-generation Alaskan, started painting her colorful ceramics in the summer of 1991 after the birth of her first of three sons. She originally only wanted to make a set of dishes for herself, but friends liked her designs so much they wanted to buy them. Her work was an immediate hit and supply has never been able to keep up with demand! When her studio clogs started showing signs of wear, she painted those as well. Soon she was getting requests for those, and the original hand painted Romney clog was born. The daughter of a retired airline executive and a domestic engineer, art and a high sense of design is in Dodd's blood. For decades, her maternal grandmother operated a stylish, uptown hat and dress shop in frontier Anchorage. When not painting in her home studio, Romney may be found out running, biking, skiing, or skating with her boys and her beloved German Shorthaired Pointer, Elsa. |
